THE PREPARED VICTROLA

The Prepared Victrola is an interactive audio machine that features the prestigious collection of Philharmonic music recorded on 78 RPM vinyl disks acquired from the Metropolitan Museum.  This “tricked-out” victrola also includes a mirror and lighting that produces and type of Wurlitzers effect.  The Prepared Victrola was a part of a performance piece created for the Laziza Electrique Dance Company called “The Lighthouse”.  The Lighthouse was based on the poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Later after the museum acquired the pristine audio collection from the Met, Micro Museum hosted special listening parties including “Arts Night Out” for NYC’s Arts and Antique week.
